Car owners and dealerships won’t deal directly with the African market because they are afraid of fraud, they don’t want to get involved in risks associated with exchange rates, shipping etc. On the other hand, about 85% of Africans looking for a new car go for used imported cars. Since dealerships in North America wont deal with them, they have to go through a middleman who inflates the price of the car and in some cases hide the car’s negative accident history.
